'Communication Skills 123' is a three-module workshop that is designed to help you do just that, improving your communication with the people you interact with, be they work colleagues, family or friends. Module 1 Have you ever had a conversation with someone that went really well, and then you tried the same type of conversation with a different person and it went really badly? Ever wondered why that is? Well, it’s probably because they are different people who behave in different ways. We'll look at a model that I designed with a colleague to help you to understand your own behaviour preferences as well as that of other people and consider how you can use this knowledge to improve your own communication skills. We will look at the pros and cons of the various types of communication that are available to us. Module 2 In the second module, we will look at some of the barriers to communication and how to overcome them. We will also look at some of the key skills of communication including questioning and listening, plus we'll look at the '7Cs' model of communication and the importance of a 'well-formed outcome'. Module 3 In module 3 we will look at the subject of assertive communication, what that actually sounds like and how it is different from aggressive or passive communication. We will also look at a model for adopting an effective negotiating style that links very closely to being more assertive.
There is no formal assessment. participants are encouraged to practise using their skills between workshops and to discuss how they got on at the next session.

About Me

I am a Master Practitioner of NLP and have been working in corporate training for over 30 years now. During that time, I have been lucky enough to work with people from all over the world both at home and abroad, adapting to the cultural needs and different approaches to learning. I have worked with companies in a variety of industries including aviation, rail and bus transportation, contact centres, Human Resources and retail.

Whether you are a Team Leader, Supervisor, Manager or Leader looking to get the most from your team, someone looking to improve their skills in order to improve in your current job or help set yourself up for a new job, or a front-line employee looking to deliver a great experience for your customers, I have a variety of training sessions that will help you. If you are looking for something specific that is not on my list of subjects, please do contact me and I will be happy to try and assist you.

I really do believe that learning should be fun. That means that any training session with me will be interesting, engaging and will use a variety of techniques. For example, I might present some information, you might complete a questionnaire, we might have a discussion and you might have the opportunity to practise your skills in a case study. Most importantly, at the end of every training session, I want you to be able ‘to do something’ and not just ‘know about something’.

Each Learned.Live teacher is awarded a 4 star review for every one of their courses we have approved, in line with our assessment. This is why some teachers will display more than one 4 star review from Learned.Live if they have had multiple courses rigorously assessed by our team. We would not approve a course application if we did not feel it warranted a default 4 star review. Teacher star ratings are an average of each of their courses star ratings and will become modified as more students review their course(s) over time.
