Many of us have just spent over a year in an online setting for both work and school. There has been a lot of learning about how to keep people focused and engaged in this environment. This course is designed to help you as a meeting facilitator or teacher learn more about what happens mentally for those participating in your sessions and give you a toolbox of strategies to help sustain engagement and productivity. Within this course, these strategies will be modelled so that you are able to experience the impact and determine if they can work for you.
Lesson 1: We will do some ice breakers and team building so that we get to know one another. Included will be a special technique that is often forgotten when meeting with groups that are familiar with one another. Following we will discuss different meeting formats, outcomes and identify our collective challenges.
Lesson 2: Mara, the teacher will provide you with a few strategies to address the challenges and model these techniques.
After the lesson, Mara will then share a resource compiling the top strategies to consider trying.
The goal is to help you improve your meetings with your teammates and make them more impactful.
To prepare for our session have a reflection about your best meeting experience and why it was positive. Please come to the session prepared to participate and share as this will help you get the most out of it. Be sure to have your camera and mic on and it would be helpful to have some scratch paper available for any quick notes you want to jot down.
Mara has over 25 years of experience in education and 20 years in leadership roles. Academically she holds a PhD in Urban Leadership, Masters in Education and a BA in Politics. Professionally she has lead teams of school leaders along with leading her own schools for over 15 years. Most recently she lead a teacher training programme in the UK and now is working with other non-profits with writing their school leader training modules. Her focus is on how to engage the unengaged and collaborate across groups while sustaining focus on the goal.
She has lead over 5,000 sessions to all ages and works constantly at improving participant engagement.

Each Learned.Live teacher is awarded a 4 star review for every one of their courses we have approved, in line with our assessment. This is why some teachers will display more than one 4 star review from Learned.Live if they have had multiple courses rigorously assessed by our team. We would not approve a course application if we did not feel it warranted a default 4 star review. Teacher star ratings are an average of each of their courses star ratings and will become modified as more students review their course(s) over time
